Jeremiah Richards

Jeremiah RichardsCaptain Jeremiah Richards grew up in the small town of Hearne, Texas, just north of Bryan/College Station. He started his service to his fellow man by joining the United States Army in 1994. During that service, he was stationed in Kitzingen, Germany, for two years and Fort Hood, Texas, for four years.

After leaving the Army in 2000, Captain Richards began working on his career in law enforcement in 2003 when he attended the Texas Department of Public Safety Academy. After graduation, he was stationed in his home county of Robertson in Franklin, Texas, and served there for three years. He then transferred to Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, where he worked for a year before promoting to Sergeant in December of 2007. Captain Richards’ first duty station as a Sergeant was in Liberty, Liberty County, Texas. He spent a year there before transferring to Manvel, Brazoria County, Texas. After four years in Manvel, Captain Richards promoted to Lieutenant in El Paso, El Paso County, Texas, in September of 2012. After a brief three month tour, he was able to transfer to Bryan where he spent three years. He then transferred to the Houston Regional office and remained there for a year and a half. In September of 2017, Captain Richards was promoted to his current rank and stationed at the Capitol Patrol – 7B. In September of 2018, he transferred to his current position at the Austin District Office.

Captain Richards has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He also currently holds a Master Peace Officer Certificate.

Captain Richards believes in professional development through continuous training, accountability, servant leadership, mentoring, community involvement, and leading by example. He believes in the motto: Service to others is success for all.
